Why is nutrition so important? What is good nutrition? And can exercise really out-weigh bad nutrition?
Why is nutrition so important?
Our food intake should contain vital nutrients we need to keep our body healthy and balanced. Nutrients can impact our growth, weight gain or loss, immunity, metabolism, long term health, digestion, and our mental wellbeing. Meaning nutrition affects everything and has a particularly important role to play in our fitness journey.
The benefits of good nutrition are more than just weight loss. A healthy nutrition plan can help reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, reduce high blood pressure and help improve brain function.
This week is Self-care awareness week 2020, which is an opportunity for us all to look at how we can take better care of ourselves. This campaign encourages us to look at our own health and lifestyle – highlighting that good nutrition teamed with regular exercise can help maximise immunity.
National self-care week 2020 is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities. To find out more about this initiative go to Self Care Forum.
What is good nutrition?
Good nutrition is all about balance, we need to ensure we have the right amount of nutrients from what we eat. However, this is not easy because the correct combination of nutrients can vary from person to person. Variants, such as your age, gender, height, weight or health; will dictate your individual nutritional requirements. And what ultimately balances you.
At Thrive Training Club we have a team of nutrition coaches with the expertise and knowledge to tailor individual plans for our clients. A busy job and family life can easily put barriers in the way of giving yourself the attention you deserve, that is why our coaches are there to help. The coaches are a constant support, by making regular check ins to ensure your plan is achieving your goals. And by keeping in regular contact, our coaches can implement your feedback and results to adjust your plan when needed. So, the advice never stops!
Can exercise really out-weigh bad nutrition?
OK, this is probably more applicable if your goal is weight loss. However, a good diet goes hand in hand with promoting health and fitness.
When you think about your week, how much of your time is at the gym? It is a small fraction of time when you think about it. Which highlights how important everything you do outside of the gym is to your overall health. Food, rest & relaxation teamed with regular exercise that you enjoy gives you the perfect healthy balance.
“Exercise is king, nutrition is queen, put them together and you have got a kingdom.”
